b) MicroGen - micro Combined Heat and Power - Paul McKeown, BG Group
Smart power - MicroGen
At a time when energy efficiency and environmental issues are at the
forefront of Government policy and becoming increasingly important
for businesses and consumers, the interest in micro combined heat and
power systems (micro CHP) has never been higher.
The MicroGen appliance, is an innovative micro CHP system, which
is being developed for individual homes and small businesses.
Like a normal boiler it produces heat and hot water, but generates
electricity from the same compact unit. It has been designed
to replace existing central heating boilers and can be used in
any building with a natural gas supply.
MicroGen is part of BG Group, a FTSE 100 company specialising
in natural gas. MicroGen and its business partners are committed
to bringing this exciting product to market.
